Chaplain - Gys Seegers

Hi, my name is Gys Seegers. I was blessed to be raised in a loving Christian family in a farming community in the north of South Africa and served in conscripted service in the South African Air Force in 1988. Ministry in the Seventh-day Adventist Church for over 2 decades, both in South Africa and here in Australia since 2009 has been truly an honour, pleasure and a very humbling experience indeed. Even more so was the opportunity to step into Army Reserves in 2020 and now fulltime since the beginning of 2022 – what an amazing learning experience!

I am blessedly married to Wendy who is an ex-national SA sprinter, and a teacher and Head of Secondary at a private Christian School in Perth since 2017. We have three children at home with us, ages 15, 13 and 10 – all loving their gymnastics. My two older sons are also around , living and working in the Perth-metro. We love the outdoors, camping, adventure and connecting with people – Australia is such an amazing place! One of my continued passions since 2012 has been connecting with The Crucible Project – an interdenominational Christian organisation focussed on emotional health and well-being for men, women and young people.

My many struggles and failings has made the love and grace of God just all the more amazing over the years. I owe a deep gratitude to so many people… and certainly among them, our ANZAC’s and those serving our country – but mostly to Jesus, who willingly gave His life so every person can truly live!
